You're all invited to join us for this contest in the heart of Cajun Country!!

This contest is put on by the Acadiana chapter of the American Red Cross, and this year it will be hosted by the Lafayette Auto Dealers Association as a part of their yearly car show/sale. This is the 4th year for the contest, and it will be held "across the street" from where it was last year - the "official" name for the site is the University of Louisiana - Lafayette Sports Complex, but basically, the contest is in the parking lot in front of the track stadium and Our Lady of Lourdes Park, where the Lady Cajuns play softball.

The address often given for the site is 201 Reinhardt Dr., Lafayette, LA 70506; we were told at a meeting today that cookers and their rigs need to enter on Reinhardt Dr. from its intersection with Bertrand Dr. (LA 3025).

If you need any more info, their website is at http://barbeque.acadianaredcross.org/

Hope to see you there!

Oops - I knew I forgot something! As of  the meeting today, there were 24 teams signed up for this contest!

And - here are the GPS coordinates from where we were told the contest would be, if the address doesn't work right:

N 30.21396
W092.04082
Elevation: 2446.4 ft

Update - Last I heard, there were 27 teams planning on being there. And the weather forecast is for partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-upper 80s and lows in the 60s!

29 teams total - the 30th  was involved in an accident on the way and had to turn back (but thankfully, no one was injured) - aside from some wind on Saturday, the weather was perfect! Congratulations to Reserve GC Dennis May of Smokin' in the Dark and GC Don Wright of Moonlight Cookers - and to all that got a call!
