Same team name

My cook off team has been competing for the last six years and recently found out there are at least two other teams with the same name,(Googled name). Is there a way to register a team name, or should we just not worry about it? I doubt we will ever compete in the same event. Is there any kind of rules for this to avoid confusion as far as who won what/where/when???

That happens occasionally but as a rule it doesn't matter.
What some teams do is use the town as to where they are from to distingish the difference.
