9/25-9/26 Berchmans BASH Louisiana State Championship - Grand Coteau, LA

Just wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming BBQ contest in Grand Coteau, LA, held in conjunction with the St. John Berchmans school?s annual Berchmans B.A.S.H.(Brothers at Sacred Heart)! This is an LA State Championship, so chicken, pork spare ribs and brisket will be turned in - on Sunday. And there will be a Saturday night grilled sausage jackpot competition - $25 entry - any kind of sausage is permitted - pork, chicken, alligator, etc. - it can be store bought or homemade.

25 teams this year - and the weather cooperated! There were storms popping up all around, but they missed Grand Coteau! The headmistress said they'd been praying all morning that the rain hold off  - I guess it worked! The local electric company blew a transformer during the contest, and everything on campus lost power, but the band had their own generator and just kept on playing! Congrats to Reserve Grand Champion Barry Smith (Bayou Boogie BBQ) and Grand Champion Brian Lipps (Smokin' Lipps), and to all that got a call!
