Ponchatoula's "Party In The Pits" - Oct. 15-16, 2010

Just wanted to invite everyone to come out to  Ponchatoula's Party In The Pits BBQ contest, coming up this Oct. 15-16! This event is a LA state championship, and the MONEY ADDED EVENT for the LA Pit of IBCA.

I just got an update from Ponchatoula, and right now they're at about 33 teams - they think they've got space for about 40 teams - the contest will be held downtown again this year. Be sure to reserve your space early - the Pelican cup (donated by Don & Mata Tellman) will be awarded this year to the Grand Champion, so don't miss out!!

And it sounded to me like they've got some pretty good bands lined up for this weekend as well!

Whew! What an event! Beautiful weather and 47 teams!

Congratulations to Reserve Grand Champion Greg Galloway of Double Trouble BBQ (Covington, LA) and Brian Lipps of Smokin' Lipps (St. Amant, LA - and to all that got their names called!

And the winner of the 2010 Pelican Cup (awarded to the LA Pit money added contest's highest scoring LA Pit member) was Brian Lipps!! Congratulations again!!

We had a great time, in Ponchatoula, hosting this event! I want to thank everyone for coming out, spending the weekend and cooking with us. I also want to thank Lynn and Andy Hollerman for coming over to serve as our head judges. They offer more help and guidance than you can imagine.

Our 3rd year and we've grown to 47 teams!!! We've been very fortunate to have a number of teams who have been w/ us every year and really appreciate the support. In addition, w/ each year, we've been able to add new friends to our growing list. Thanks to all!

Congratulations to all who made the walk and especially to Brian Lipps, GC and Greg Galloway, RGC. Brian also walked out with honors as the highest scoring LA Pit member, for the year...congrats!
