Margaret Nixon informs us that the registration fee for the IBCA contest in
Florien, LA has been reduced to $100 to cook the four categories of chicken,
ribs, pork, and brisket).  In addition, there will be two ancillary categories
in chili ($20) and beans ($15).  Participants are asked to provide a cooked
brisket to donate for charity.  Contact Margaret  at (318) 586-3521 or
margaretnixon@bellsouth.net for additional information on this contest, which is
scheduled for November 4-5, 2011.  The entry form for the Florien contest can be

Last weekend, the promoter told me 13. I don't know if that has changed or not, but the website certainly has gotten some traffic since then, if that's any indication!

This was an EXCELLENT contest - tho the temperature dipped into the 30s overnight! Congratulations to Reserve Grand Champion Danny Titus of Roadtoad's Smoke "n" BBQ and Grand Champion Ronnie Wade of Blazen BBQ, and to all those who got a call!!
