Damon, Welcome! Do you have any contests planned as of yet? Have you competed in other sanctioned events? Lastly, have you looked into joining the Louisiana Pit? You can find more information about Louisiana contests by visiting www.labbq.orgClint Carnivorous Endeavors BBQ

Hi Clint, Thanks for the comment, I competed a few times, but never in sanctioned event, but I'm going to try to go to Natchitoches, La for the Smoking on the Cane around 1st of June, Also thinking about a Rib Cook off in Monroe,La this year. I was thinking when I joined the IBCA it also joined me up with labbq. Org, but not really sure, but if you would like to see more about me, please see www.babeebluesbbq.com....

Damon,
The Natchitoches contest is probably the closest IBCA contest to you in LA; there's one coming up in Marshall, TX in April that would probably be closer to you - many of the contests in the Piney Woods of TX and perhaps some in AR would be the closest to you. A lot of the contests in LA right now are in south LA. You're welcome to come to ANY contest - or stop by the judging area and volunteer if you'd like! Hope to see you soon!
Lynn H.

Damon- Try this link: http://www.ibcabbq.org/flyers2012/lil%20earl%27s%20marshall.pdfYou can find this on the IBCA site - click on "Events" in the left-side bar, then "2012", then the green star next to the date of the contest. The flyer should tell you all you need to know right now! Actually, hubby and I (Glowz BBQ) were thinking about this one - sounds like a lot of fun, and the promoter is a really great guy! Maybe we could get a Louisiana contingent together! Lynn H.

Welcome Damon to the IBCA -- and I did include you into the LA Pit - if you would like to join the Pineywood group it is only an additional $10.00 - that could be done at Marshall should you decide to attend that event.
Anytime you have any questions feel free to post them on this site or contact the office.
Again, Welcome.

Hi Lynn, I wanted you to know that I talked with Chris this morning and printed off the registration form and the check is fixing to be in the mail, I requested vacation on the April 13 and I plan to pull up by 10am in the square in Marshall, TX....... )) I hope to see y'all there... I don't mind joining the Piney wood group, but does this has to be done to enter the cook off as a IBCA member in Marshall, TX?

You do not have to be a member to cook any of the BBQ events - the advantage is that if an event is designated as a PIT (local chapter) added money event - you are usually given 30 days prior to the event to join that particular PIT.
For example: (it isn't posted yet but) Texas BBQ Assn. (TxBA) added money event will be the Ft. Worth Cops for Kids - to be eligible for the added money membership in IBCA/TxBA must be current as of Feb. 29, 2012.
I hope that this is explains the PIT to you.
Again if you have any questions feel free to ask. -- you are talking with 2 different Lynn's -- I'm Lynn Shivers and the other Lynn is Lynn Hollerman from Lafayette.
