Election Time

In the past couple of newsletters - I have asked for nominations for the following positions and no one has responded.

Executive Director - 2 yr term
2 Board of Directors at Large - 2 yr term

Jeff is presently the Executive Director and can't hold the position again because he has been in office the past 4 yrs - our By-laws state that you can only hold the position for 2 terms.

Please think about who you would like to take over the reins of YOUR ORGANIZATION.

Our annual meeting will be August 1 in Austin at the VFW 8787
and I would like to run an article on anyone that would be interested in being the next Executive Director.

I nominate Andy Hollerman (Lafayette, LA) for the IRCA Board of Directors at large.

I dont even know any of the main players in our organization anymore. I would not know who would be interested, or would do a good job anymore.

My opinion would be, some one that has the general interest of the organization, and its betterment overall. Someone that has the time to dedicate to the office.

Right now if you were to ask me, I know 2 board members, you and Jeff.  I do not know who is on the board, who has served on the board, or how many board members we have at this time.   With that said, I will list a few names, that have been around awhile that may fit the bill.

Terry Blount - Now that the kids are grown up, he might have the time?

Waldo Strein - It used to be where Waldo was not? Seems as though he was at every cook off.  Since I am not up in the North Texas area anymore, I do not see him as much.

David Higginbothem - As much as he has run his mouth all these years, maybe its time for him to put his money where his mouth is? I say that all in fun. He has been around as long as I can remember, and he might be a good fit for the board?

Ronnie and Michelle Wade - I know they are on the road a lot and do a lot of cooks, but it has not stopped you and Jeff all these years from doing a great job!

I second the motion for Ronnie and Michelle Wade. Great experience, knowledge and loves his cooking. I have found them to be great listeners and mentors.
