Sorry for being so late w/ this...work's just really been getting in the way of life, lately.

I wanted to give a little update...our 2nd annual event is coming up this weekend (Friday & Saturday), Oct. 16th & 17th. A guaranteed $5,000.00 in prize money and a State Championship! We'll have a Cook's supper on Friday night, a band playing on Saturday and it looks like (if they're not lying) that the weather is going to be great.

As of this morning, we have 33 teams signed up w/ room for just a few more. The entry form and rules are listed on the IBCA web site. If you have any questions, give me a call...if I don't answer (I can't always when at work), leave a message and I'll get back with you.

I hope to see y'all there. Even if you're not cookin', come out and visit..........

This is a wonderful contest so everyone needs to come to downtown Ponchatoula this coming weekend.  We might actually get a contest in without rain!!  Besides in addition to the usual perks, the grand champion of this fine contest will get two free nights at the Paragon Casino Hotel if they participate in that IBCA sanctioned contest during the weekend of November 14.  BBQ is growing in Louisiana..... See you all this coming weekend!

There's no other way to say it - this contest was AWESOME! FREE ribeye steak dinner on Friday night (didn't have a problem getting the cooks to show up for that!), excellent weather (no rain!) - and no bugs all over everything! And we even got to see what the "well dressed" BBQ cook wears in the fall - those flannel pants are SURE to sweep the fashion world in no time!

Congratulations to Grand Champion Brian Lipps of Smokin' Lipps and Tee Wayne Abshire of Tee Wayne's Cajun Cooking - and to all that got their names called! 36 teams was the final total, and I think there might've been room for a few more...

Thanks to Elvis Stanga & Jamene Dahmer for a FANTASTIC contest!

For once, the weather was perfect for a BBQ contest.  I wonder how you order those flannel pants?

I just wanted to thank everyone that came out and cooked @ our event. We had a great crowd, good weather and I hope everyone had a good time.

I also wanted to thank the IBCA and our judges, Lynn & Andy. Without their help, guidance and support, we wouldn't have a clue.

Congrats to "Smokin' Lipps" and to everyone else who got a call!!!

I'll try and post a link to some pics, this weekend.

Again, thanks to all!!!

There are SOME pictures of the cookoff posted at

http://www.labbq.org/Ponchatoula2009Pictures.htm

but really, they serve to confirm that even with all the automatic stuff on cameras these days, I still suck at taking photos!

(And no, I didn't get any pictures of the flannel pants  Sad - it was too dark then)

Lynn - it looks like Tee Wayne has on his flannel pants - that's the rage right now.
